Our local "haunted" house. The news did a feature on it last week (they usually do them at Halloween . . . I'm not sure what prompted a July haunted house story). It was a sanitarium way back, and the last several years it has been run as a Halloween haunted house by different groups. Nathan has been fascinated with it since seeing the news story. He's much more interested in the "real" story than any of the scary stuff they do at Halloween. It's only a couple of miles from our house, so we went by and took pictures last night. We would like to go in and see the inside, since we like 20's architecture . . . but I'm not sure I want to take the flashlight tour! :)

More birthday celebration pictures, even though the official birthday was almost two weeks ago. We prefer the "birthday month" method of celebration!
Legos from Grandma Jane & Grandpa Pat in Wisconsin.
And what's a birthday celebration without a little Elvis?

Still at Grandma's . . . our house has been cleared for mold, so we may go home tonight. Nathan says he's "staying here until everything is fixed." :)
We had a heat wave last week with temperatures getting up to 112 degrees. So, we haven't done much but stay inside lately, or go out in the pool or sprinklers. This morning, we're meeting our friends at the zoo before it gets too hot--it is "only" supposed to be around 100, and there's a breeze, so we're good to go!

We spent part of the Fourth at Grandma & Grandpa's, eating dinner with them and my sister, her boyfriend, and one of his daughters. Here's our patriotic family picture:
And our Yankee Doodle Dandies . . .
This was one of our contributions to the dinner--a yummy berry cobbler.
The air has cleared up considerably in our part of California, so we did just a *few* fireworks. I didn't get pictures, because Norah didn't like the noise and I ended up taking her inside. Just after we came in, our power went out. It was a rough couple of hours . . . luckily, the power came back on just as we were going to try to go to bed with the baby. Hooray for the people who work hard for us on holidays!
