This is the room where we sleep at my parents. There are seven bookcases, but I couldn't fit them all in the picture. My dad has a love of books, which he has passed on to me and my kids. There is a literacy program whose slogan is something about always remembering your first book, a concept that is very foreign to me. My kids had shelves of books before they were even born. Some were new, some were mine, some were favorite stories from my parent's childhoods. We can never have enough (or too many!) books!

I have really been bogged down this summer by having our house torn up. Our house is our sanctuary and absolutely our Home Base for all things, and the construction has really affected our life and our routines. This last weekend, I cleaned and reorganized the kids' rooms. Everyone feels like we have a little more breathing room, which is significant considering that we have had to absorb 3 rooms worth of "stuff" into the rest of the house. The reconstruction work begins in earnest tomorrow, starting with our new bathtub/shower!
