This picture isn't from today, but we've seen these two walking several times lately when I haven't had my camera with me. They make me smile every time I see them.

September 26, 2008

Last night, we went to the Fair in one of the small neighboring towns. We had a great time. Nathan rode the big slide, and Norah laughed at everyone as they zipped by. The center of the Ferris Wheel, from the car we were riding in.
The view of the midway, from the Ferris Wheel.

I love this picture of Nathan.

Norah enjoyed herself much more than this picture shows! She ate her first "Fair food" (although it was the healthiest Fair food I've ever seen--turkey & fruit!). She had ice cream, and danced and played on the grass while we watched the bands play.

Karl came home today after a week-long business trip. We were all happy to see him, and the kids were excited to check out the loot he brought back from his tool conference. An interesting side note--Chuck Liddell (a UFC champion) was on his plane. We saw him taking pictures with people, and heard someone say his name, but we didn't know who he was until we came home and Googled him. He seemed very friendly, and happy to take pictures with the people who knew who he was! :)

Norah is walking! And wearing coffee-filter hats. There's so much to do when you're almost a year old!!
"A room without books is like a body without a soul" ~ Cicero
The bookcases are officially done. Nathan is happy to not have to dig through boxes in the garage to find his books. Norah is happy that there are some books that she can reach (her own books are all well within reach, in her room). I'm happy that the books all fit on three bookcases . . . not withstanding the "souls" that occupy all of the other rooms. :)

Another big catch-up post . . . we've been working to get the family room back in order. Nathan was happy to get his desk back, and Norah was happy to discover things that she hadn't known we had!Norah, helping Daddy put together the new bookcases.
A self-portrait by Nathan.

Nathan's picture of my grandparents' old salt box radio.

The Highland Gathering and Games this last weekend.

The opening ceremony. We love bagpipes! Our next-door neighbors are members of the Scottish Society, and sometimes have bagpipers over. We open our windows, and enjoy a free concert!

These guys were making chain mail armor. The sign on the left says that that particular piece involved 90 hours of work. I have to say that these two were the most friendly and eager to share their knowledge of anyone we met at the Gathering--so cool!

September 1, 2008

Random shots of us being at home. Karl was at training all of last week, so we mostly hung out at home and didn't take too many pictures. Everyone is enjoying being back at our own house, even though we're still not quite back to "normal." Our new bookcases come on Thursday . . . when we have access to our books, then we'll know that things are as they should be!
Meanwhile, Norah turned 11 months . . . where has the time gone???
